Cristina del Pilar Gallego Fernández (Granada, 1989) began her musical studies at the Benalmádena Municipal School of Music under the guidance of Muskilda Salar Ochoa, with whom she studied clarinet and piano. She continued her studies at the “Gonzalo Martín Tenllado” Professional Conservatoire of Music in Málaga, specialising in both piano and composition, the latter under the tutelage of Santiago García Cuba.
She subsequently continued her training at the Higher Conservatoire of Music in Málaga with Ramón Roldán and María Dolores Romero Ortiz, where she graduated with a Higher Diploma in Musical Composition. She has also obtained university qualifications as a teacher and music educator from the University of Málaga.
Her concert repertoire includes chamber works such as Hommage, Introyectiva I, Circles I and Taima; works for wind band such as Lilith, premiered in Granada by the city’s Municipal Wind Band under the baton of Silvia Olivero; choral works such as Esa vida generosa, premiered by the Carmina Nova Youth Choir under the direction of Michele Paccagnella; and orchestral works such as Élan, premiered by the Promúsica Orchestra under the direction of Javier Claudio.
He is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Musical Performance and Research at the International University of Valencia. He is also continuing his training through various advanced courses, learning from composers such as José Luis Besada and José María Sánchez-Verdú.
The main focus of his compositional work lies in the intertwining of the visual arts with music, notably his research project ‘Kandinsky through music’ and his orchestral work ‘Gelb-Rot-Blau’.
He is currently developing various compositional projects from this interdisciplinary perspective of music in harmony with other arts.
