20th-century Brazilian poetess, professor and composer. Of Portuguese parents, she graduated from the National Music Insitute of Rio de Janeiro and was choral professor at the Rio de Janeiro Music Conservatory. She married and worked with the composer Heitor Villa-Lobos and he dedicated some of his compositions to her, calling her Mindinha. After her husband’s death, Arminda became curator of the Villa-Lobos museum in Rio.
