Mary Wood Chase (1868–1963) was an American concert pianist and influential music educator, born in Brooklyn, New York. She studied at the New England Conservatory and later in Berlin with Oscar Raif. Chase performed extensively in the United States, including appearances with the Theodore Thomas Orchestra, and became noted for her interpretations of Chopin and Christian Sinding.
She founded the Mary Wood Chase School of Musical Arts in Chicago and published the pedagogical treatise Natural Laws in Piano Technic (1910). Although sometimes included in lists of women composers, I could not verify any compositions by her; she is documented primarily as a pianist, teacher, writer on music, and school director.
