In 2019 Chan composed the music for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s gender-reversed production of The Taming of the Shrew. For that production she researched women composers of the Renaissance and early Baroque, including Maddalena Casulana, Francesca Caccini and Vittoria Aleotti, and incorporated this historical perspective into the musical concept of the production.
