Juliette Chailloux (b. 1861) was a French composer and pianist active in the late nineteenth century. She was the daughter of the pianist and composer Suzanne Pillevesse (1835–1895). Relatively little is known about Chailloux’s personal and professional life, but several of her compositions have survived in French library collections.
She composed primarily for solo piano, writing in the salon style characteristic of nineteenth-century French musical culture. Her known works include Sous les étoiles, a barcarolle published in 1883; Les oiseaux-mouches, a concert mazurka from 1884; Dans le train, a caprice published in 1888; and La balle au bond, an impromptu dating from 1889.
Her music belongs to the Romantic piano repertoire and reflects genres frequently associated with domestic and salon performance. Although Chailloux is little represented in modern music histories, the preservation and digitisation of her scores have made part of her output accessible today.
