María de Pablos Cerezo was a Spanish composer, pianist and conductor born in Segovia. She studied at the Madrid Conservatory, where in 1927 she became the first woman to win its Composition Prize. The following year, she received a scholarship to continue her musical studies at the Spanish Academy in Rome. Her works include the symphonic poem Castilla, Sonata Romántica, songs, chamber music and the one-act opera La infanta Desdén. Although her surviving catalogue is relatively small, she is regarded as a pioneering figure among Spanish women composers and conductors of the early twentieth century.
