CEKOVSKA, Lubica

Ľubica Čekovská is a Slovak composer and pianist, born in Humenné on 16 March 1975. She studied music theory and composition at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, working with Juraj Beneš and Dušan Martinček, before completing postgraduate composition studies with Paul Patterson at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She also attended courses with Robert Saxton, Thomas Adès, Arvo Pärt and Harrison Birtwistle.
Čekovská composes operas, orchestral and chamber music, choral and vocal works, as well as music for theatre, film and television. She was composer-in-residence with the Altenburg-Gera Philharmonic Orchestra during the 2010–2011 season. Her concert and stage works are represented by Bärenreiter.
