Adèle Cederschiöld was a Swedish composer, pianist and music teacher. She was born in Hanover, Germany, on 29 May 1873, moved to Stockholm with her family in 1879 and died in Saltsjöbaden on 27 August 1957. Her surviving catalogue comprises piano miniatures, pedagogical music, solo songs and compositions for women’s voices.
Cederschiöld’s most prominent composition was Song for the International Council of Women, setting words by Eva Upmark. It was adopted as the organisation’s official song at its 1913 meeting in The Hague. A contemporary Swedish account described Cederschiöld as a skilled pianist already known through her earlier compositions.
