CAZURRA, Anna

Anna Cazurra is a Catalan composer and musicologist born in Barcelona. She studied piano and violin before specialising in composition and orchestration with Josep Soler. Her catalogue encompasses piano music, chamber and vocal works, orchestral compositions and musical theatre. Representative works include Petit poema for brass quintet, Hesperia for piano, Psalms for soprano and orchestra, Atlántida for piano and strings, and the song cycle Tensho. Her music combines contemporary compositional techniques and strong tonal foundations with influences from Mediterranean and other folk traditions. Her works have received several distinctions, including prizes at the Frederic Mompou International Competition.
