CATTINI, Alberta D’Angeli

Alberta D’Angeli Cattini was an Italian composer, harpist and music educator, born in L’Aquila on 5 June 1894. She studied at the Conservatorio Rossini in Pesaro and graduated with highest honours. After beginning her career as a concert and orchestral harpist, she settled in Verona in 1921, where she taught at the Liceo Musicale for forty years.

Her documented compositions are two short works for solo harp, both published in Bologna in 1921: Fruscio di salici, dedicated to her harp teacher Eleonora Gianuzzi Palazzi, and Romanza senza parole, dedicated to her mother. These pieces represent her contribution to the early twentieth-century Italian repertoire for solo harp.
