Notes:

PAULA CASTIGLIONI (b. 1986) is a Brazilian conductor, pianist, composer, music educator and researcher. She studied composition and conducting at São Paulo State University, completed a Master’s degree in choral conducting at the University of Campinas and earned her doctorate in conducting from the University of São Paulo. She also studied piano and choral conducting with prominent Brazilian musicians and completed training in Circlesongs with Bobby McFerrin.

Castiglioni’s creative work is closely connected with choral performance, collective vocal improvisation and interdisciplinary approaches combining music, movement and theatrical expression. Rather than maintaining a widely documented catalogue of autonomous concert compositions, she works primarily through choral arrangements, collectively created pieces and guided improvisations. Her artistic research explores how improvisation can shape the interpretation and performance of established choral repertoire. She teaches at EMESP Tom Jobim and has conducted choirs and educational projects throughout Brazil.
