CASKIE, Maya

British-Japanese composer, arranger, singer-songwriter, pianist, and author based in London. Her compositions and songs draw on folk and classical music and frequently explore identity, cultural heritage, and personal loss through texts in English and Japanese. In 2020, she independently produced and released the album Glacier Point and published Maya’s Mountain, an illustrated children’s book containing original piano pieces. She received a Sound and Music COVID-19 Composer Award in 2021. Her works include Fantaisie for piano and orchestra, Two Dances for oboe and strings, Pareidolia, and The Marquisse. In 2024, she composed a two-act score for Studio Bontemps’ ballet production of Peter Pan, premiered at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center in Nishinomiya, Japan.
