Caruso describes her musical language as “transclassical music”. It combines classical forms and techniques with improvisation, world-music traditions and instruments from different cultures. She writes orchestral and chamber music, piano concertos, vocal works and scores for film and television. Her compositions include the piano concerto Light and Wind, Clouds for piano and orchestra, Titania’s Lullaby, The Universe Echoes Back and Folía, written with da Silva. She also composed the music for the documentary Forte, in which she appeared as one of its featured artists.
