CARTER, L Elise

L. Elise Carter is an American composer, flutist, conductor, organist, music educator and music therapist. She is a member and co-director of UpTown Flutes and has worked as a church music director and organist.

Carter writes contemporary classical music, primarily for flute, flute choir and chamber ensembles. Her compositions include Triptych for Flutes, Gypsy Dance, Earth Heart, Honeybee for flute, horn and piano, and Wondrous Contemplation. Her music makes extensive use of contrasting instrumental colours, rhythmic movement and the full range of the flute family.
