CARRIER, Alexis

Alexis Carrier is an American composer and pianist from Manhattan, Montana. She began studying piano at the age of six and later studied music composition at the University of Montana. Carrier attracted wider attention with The Final Battle Cry (2015), a work for solo horn. The composition received an honorable mention in the Featured Division of the 2016 International Horn Society Composition Contest, selected from entries submitted by composers from ten countries. It was subsequently performed at the 49th International Horn Symposium in Natal, Brazil, by horn player Louis-Philippe Marsolais. The work remains part of the contemporary repertoire for solo horn and has been performed by several musicians. Another documented composition by Carrier is El Anhelo, presented at Connecticut Summerfest in 2018.
