Wendy Carlos is an American composer and a pioneer of electronic music. Her landmark album Switched-On Bach (1968), created with a Moog synthesizer, demonstrated the instrument’s expressive potential and helped introduce electronic music to a wide audience. Carlos also composed influential electronic scores for the films A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, and Tron. Her work encompasses sound design, synthesized orchestration, and alternative tuning systems.
