Julia Scott Carey is an American composer, pianist, conductor and accompanist. She studied at the New England Conservatory and was among the first students admitted to its joint-degree programme with Harvard University, through which she earned a master’s degree in composition. She later received a second master’s degree in collaborative piano from Boston University. Her orchestral works have been performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops. Carey was also the youngest composer to have her music published by the Theodore Presser Company.
