CAREW, Christy

Christy Carew is an American composer whose work encompasses film, television, advertising, multimedia and concert music. Drawn to film scoring from an early age, she has composed music for drama, comedy, action, horror and documentary productions. Her score for the science-fiction short film Virtually received the Best Score – Short Film award at FilmQuest and was nominated for the FIMUCINEMA Award at the Tenerife International Film Music Festival. Carew was a fellow at the 2018 Sundance Institute Film Music and Sound Design Lab and participated in the 2019 ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop.
Her concert works include the orchestral tone poem Wovoka’s Dream, premiered by the Reno Pops Orchestra, the choral composition Your Forest, and A Name Carved in Light, commissioned by the Antinori Foundation and premiered by the Merian Ensemble in 2026. Carew holds a master’s degree in film scoring and composition from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in piano performance and music business from Loyola University New Orleans.
