Notes:

Edwiges de São Luiz Cardoso Bensabat was a Portuguese composer and pianist active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Her work is a significant part of Portugal's historical heritage of female classical musicians. While not widely known to mainstream audiences today, her compositions were highly regarded in the classical salon music circles of her era. She specialized in piano solos and lyrical melodies written for voice and piano. Her music has been recently revived by contemporary classical musicians. For instance, Brazilian pianist Karin Fernandes has featured Bensabat's pieces in concert programs dedicated to highlighting historical Portuguese female composers. Many of her original sheet music editions and manuscripts are preserved in Portuguese national archives and music museums.
