CAPDEVILA I GAYA, Mercè

Merce Capdevila I Gaya is a Catalan pianist, composer and music educator born in Barcelona. She studied piano at the Academia Marshall and the Conservatorio de Música del Liceo, completing her musical studies in 1968. Capdevila also studied plastic arts and electroacoustic music, working with notable composers such as Luigi Nono and Aaron Copland. Her compositions have been performed internationally and commissioned by various organizations. Capdevila is a member of the Catalan Composers' Association and a founding member of the Spanish Electroacoustic Music Association. She has also explored multidisciplinary projects, including multimedia concerts and collaborations with visual artists.
