CAMPOS, Ana Yara

Ana Yara Campos (born 1954) is a Brazilian choral conductor, arranger, composer and music educator based in São Paulo. Her academic training encompasses music, journalism and education, and she studied choral practice with figures including Roberto Schnorremberg. She also attended courses and festivals devoted to choral music in Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Italy and the United States.
Campos has worked with the Instituto Nacional de Música of FUNARTE through the Projeto Villa-Lobos, with cultural institutions in several Brazilian states, and with universities and musical organisations. Her conducting and educational work has involved children’s and youth choirs, university ensembles, community groups and choirs established by companies.
Her creative output centres on choral arrangements and pieces designed for vocal and musical education. Her composition História colorida is documented in the repertoire of the Guri Choir in Lorena, where she is identified as a composer born in 1954. She has also produced arrangements and adaptations of Brazilian traditional songs and other repertoire for young voices.
