CALDERONI, Caterina

Caterina Calderoni is an Italian composer, pianist and educator, born in Ravenna in 1963. Her artistic work moves between contemporary classical music, film and television music, electroacoustic research and multimedia projects. She has written for concert performance, audiovisual productions, video, theatre, performance and contemporary art contexts, often exploring the relationship between sound, image and dramatic expression.
Calderoni gained recognition in the field of film music after winning the first Composition Contest for Film Music promoted by Ennio Morricone at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. She has also composed music for RAI productions and has collaborated on a wide range of sound and multimedia projects. Alongside her creative work, she was active for many years in the music editorial department of Casa Ricordi in Milan, where she worked closely with scores, reductions, arrangements and contemporary repertoire.
Her catalogue reflects a broad musical profile, combining instrumental writing, applied music and experimental sound practices. In addition to composing, Calderoni has contributed to music education through teaching and publications, with works and writings issued by Ricordi, Bèrben, Rugginenti, Ut Orpheus, Sconfinarte and I Resound Press.
