CALDERON, Carla Q

Carla Q. Calderón / Carla Quispe Calderón (b. 1994) is a Bolivian composer, improviser and sound artist from La Paz. She studied modern piano at the Conservatorio Plurinacional de Música and continued her musical training at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes. Her work is connected with contemporary music, experimental sound practices, improvisation and soundscape-based composition. Calderón has taken part in Latin American new-music contexts, including the Festival Mujeres en la Música Nueva, where her work 1 2 3 4 (2019), written for the guitar quartet Atemporánea, was presented as a winning work of the 2019 call. She is also documented by Radio UNAM as a Bolivian sound artist with the soundscape work Valle de la Luna, La Paz.
