Notes:

Claudia Caffagni is an Italian musician, lutenist, singer, psalterium player, researcher and composer, born in 1969. She is best known as a founding member of the medieval music ensemble laReverdie, with which she has developed a long career dedicated to the study, reconstruction and performance of medieval European repertoire.

Although her work is primarily rooted in performance and musicological research, Caffagni is also documented as the composer of Occasum, a short work for psalterion. The piece appears on laReverdie’s album Nox-Lux – France & Angleterre 1200–1300, where it is placed among medieval and medieval-inspired repertory. Occasum reflects Caffagni’s close relationship with historical instruments, medieval sound worlds and the creative reimagining of early musical materials.

Her artistic practice combines interpretation, research, transcription and composition. Through her work with laReverdie, Caffagni has contributed to the revival and contemporary understanding of medieval music, approaching historical sources not only as documents to be studied, but also as living material for performance and creative exploration.
