CADDY, Anthea

Anthea May Caddy is an Australian composer, cellist and sound artist born in 1981. Her work explores the spatial, physical and architectural properties of sound, combining amplified cello, electroacoustic improvisation, field recording, digital spatialisation and multi-channel loudspeaker systems. Caddy creates performances and large-scale sound installations that investigate resonance, projection and the perception of sound in space. In recent years, she has developed parabolic speaker systems in collaboration with Miodrag Gladović and Spatial Media Art Lab, expanding her practice into long-distance directional sound projection. Her work has been presented internationally across Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the United States.
