BYDALEK, Lauren

Lauren Bydalek (b. 1995) is a multi-faceted musician based out of Lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated with honors and high distinction from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, earning her bachelor’s degree in May 2018. During her time there, she studied under Kurt Knecht and Greg Simon, as well as performing in vocal ensembles under the direction of Matthew Oltman, David Von Kampen, and Pete Eklund. Since graduating, she has studied with Vince Peterson, and sang with Sing Omaha, under the direction of Matt Hill.

Lauren appreciates composing in a variety of musical styles, including classical, jazz, film, and songwriting. Most notably, this includes Life Through Color, a singer-songwriter EP, and Postcards from the Land of the Rising Sun, an Undergraduate Honors thesis for Chamber Orchestra,
Recently, Lauren has been focusing primarily on choral writing, including recent commissions and performances from the Nebraska Choral Directors Association, Choral Chameleon, the Young New Yorker’s Chorus, International Orange Chorale of San Franciso, Choral Arts Initiative, University of Nebraska – Lincoln, and York College choirs.
Lauren currently lives and works in Lincoln, Nebraska. Though she works at UNL’s College of Law, she remains an avid composer. She continues to perform as a vocalist and pianist with local choral groups and churches, and has recently started the Nebraska Vocal Jazz Project with others in the Nebraska area.
