Christina Blomkvist, born in 1975, is an accomplished Swedish concert organist, improviser, and composer. She is widely recognized for her ability to blend traditional written repertoire with newly recorded improvisations across the organ, piano, and harpsichord. Between 1995 and 2010, she maintained a highly active international concert career, performing at prestigious venues such as Westminster Abbey, Wells Cathedral, Newcastle Cathedral, St John's College in Cambridge, and the cathedrals of Copenhagen, Lund, and Erfurt.
After focusing on other professional endeavors, she experienced a major creative resurgence starting in 2023. Since then, she has released roughly ten albums filled with fresh improvisations, including her 2024 album Conciliatory Improvisations and a major double album recorded at Linköping Cathedral in the spring of 2026.
Her formal musical education began at the Malmö Music Academy and included studies at the Paris Conservatory of Music in 1997. She completed her soloist studies in Copenhagen, leading to her debut at Helligaandskirken in 2003, and she earned third prize at the Odense International Organ Competition in 2000. Alongside her musical career, Blomkvist works professionally as a business lawyer and legal tech founder. She remains deeply committed to advocacy, serving on the board of Swedish Women Organists (SKO) to promote gender equity and creating the archiving platform organist.one.
