Nathalie Biarnés is a contemporary French composer, pianist, and arranger originating from the Landes region of France. She is prominently recognized for her collaborations with regional ensembles and her leadership roles in French musical institutions. Biarnés pursued her academic music studies in France, earning a Master's degree in Music in 2002. She followed this by completing her Diploma in Advanced Composition and Writing Studies (Diplôme de fin d’études d’écriture) in 2005. To refine her compositional voice, she participated in masterclasses and worked closely with acclaimed contemporary composers including Nicolas Bacri, Édith Canat de Chizy, and Pascal Zavaro. She officially launched her career as a composer in 2002. The following year, she gained wider recognition by winning a composition competition for choral music. Her career is deeply intertwined with the cultural fabric of southwestern France. Since 2006, she has been a privileged artistic partner of the Orchestre de Pau Pays de Béarn (OPPB), which regularly commissions her to create original works and arrangements for high-profile events, such as their New Year’s Concerts and Orchestral Urbain projects. Her notable orchestral arrangements include Victory (performed as an encore at international festivals like La Roque d'Anthéron and Rabat) and La Sobirana. Her musical catalog spans multiple genres, notably including chamber music (such as her String Quartet No. 1), choral settings, and evocative ensemble works like Desolation Islands.
In addition to her creative output, Biarnés is a dedicated musical educator and administrator. She serves as the Deputy Director of the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) de Pau (the Conservatory of Music and Dance in Pau). Within the institution and the surrounding community, she has also contributed significantly as the official piano accompanist and assistant choir director for the "Anima" choir in Pau.
