Notes:

Marie Bertault was a French composer born in Paris. Her complete biography reveals a deeply musical life centered around her family and her compositions, often published under her mother's maiden name. Born Marie Rose Henriette Pinon in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, her parents were Paul Émile Marie Pinon and Louis Marguerite Joséphine Eckendorff. She adopted her mother's maiden name, Marie Eckendorff, as her main musical pseudonym. On June 19, 1899, she married Pierre Maurice Bertault (known simply as Maurice) in Creil, Oise. Maurice was a pharmacist by profession but shared a deep passion for music as an amateur cellist. Together, they passed their musical legacy down to their two sons: Pierre Louis Aymar Bertault and Julien Maurice Bertault. Her surviving compositions, including works like Pastorale sur un vieil air vendéen, continue to preserve her legacy within historical archives.
