Notes:

Jane Berry is a Canadian composer, arranger, choral conductor, and visual artist known for creating deeply impactful, socially conscious musical works. She gained widespread recognition in the Canadian contemporary classical music scene with the premiere of her first major choral work, Mass for Recovery: Phoenix Rising, performed by the professional chamber choir Pro Coro Canada. Her compositions frequently use her voice as both a creator and vocalist to explore human resilience and amplify the visibility of underrepresented populations. Berry earned a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Acadia University (2005) and a Master of Arts in Music Theory from the University of Ottawa (2011), later pursuing PhD studies in music theory and an education degree at the University of Alberta. Her breakthrough work, Mass for Recovery: Phoenix Rising (2017), was inspired by her experience caregiving for her mother following brain tumor surgery. Premiered by Pro Coro Canada, the acclaimed piece reflects themes of recovery and resilience. Berry has also collaborated with ensembles such as Ultraviolet, FEMME, Alive!, and Antidote.
