Diane Berry is a Canadian performer, music educator, and composer. Known for her work across several regions in Canada and abroad, her career spans chamber music performance, private instruction, and acoustic instrumentation composition. Diane Berry grew up in Ontario, Canada, primarily raised in Toronto. She showed an early affinity for music, starting piano lessons at the age of six and picking up the flute at age 13. She pursued formal musical training at York University in Toronto, graduating from their music program in 1982. She moved to Halifax shortly after university to teach and perform chamber music, serving as the principal flutist for the Chebucto Orchestra and acting as a recitalist at the Canadian Conservatory. She also spent time living in Fiji, where she remained active in the local international community, performing at the Fiji Arts Club and at both the American and British embassies. She later lived and taught in Sidney and Smithers, British Columbia. While in Smithers in 1995, she became a founding member of the classical chamber trio "Two Flutes & a Violin," with whom she recorded and toured extensively across Western Canada. Berry returned to musical composition primarily through her work with her chamber trio, initially writing pieces designed specifically for their performances. She later branched out into broader instrumentation, developing a portfolio of classical acoustic music.
