Caroline Machtilda Berkenbosch is a prominent Dutch composer and visual artist. Known for her contributions to contemporary classical music, she often bridges the gap between auditory and visual mediums. Berkenbosch pursued her formal musical education in the Netherlands. She first studied at the Utrecht Conservatory under the guidance of Henk Alkema. She later moved to The Hague to study under the renowned avant-garde composer Louis Andriessen. In addition to traditional classical notation, Berkenbosch regularly creates visual compositions and fine art. Her work is characterized by its interdisciplinarity, utilizing texture and form across media.
