Lisa Berg was a prominent Luxembourgish cellist, composer, and music teacher who became one of the leading figures on the Luxembourgish music scene. Known for her versatility, she seamlessly spanned classical music, rock, pop, crossover, and jazz. Berg began her musical education with general lessons at age six. She took up the flute at age 13 at the Maastricht Conservatory and simultaneously began training on the cello. Her cello studies progressed through classes under Martin Fusenig in Echternach, Raju Vidali at the Conservatoire du Nord, and Claude Giampellegrini at the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg. She eventually perfected her cello artistry back at the Maastricht Conservatory under Frans van der Grinten and Mirel Iancovici, where she earned her Bachelor's degree. From the age of 16, Berg eagerly branched out from strict classical training to play in various rock, pop, jazz, and crossover bands. Her professional footprint in Luxembourg was extensive. In the 2010s, Berg faced a severe battle with cancer. Proving her resilient spirit, she turned her hospital room into a creative space. During this difficult period, she composed the poignant piece "Hope for the Cancer Foundation", which was performed during Luxembourg's Relais pour la Vie in 2014. Lisa Berg passed away from leukemia at the age of 39 on December 21, 2017, at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg. She left behind a young daughter, Sophie.
