BERANOVÁ, Lola

Lola Beranová (born Aloisie Marie Beranová-Straková) was a prominent Czech pianist, composer, and music pedagogue. Born and deceased in Prague, she was a dedicated figure in the Czech classical music scene during the early-to-mid 20th century, particularly known for her educational concerts and compositions for piano and voice. Beranová began her formal musical journey at the Prague Conservatory, where she studied piano from 1895 to 1900. Seeking to refine her technique, she traveled internationally to study under esteemed European masters. She later turned her attention to composition, studying under the celebrated Czech composer Vítězslav Novák during two distinct periods: 1909–1913 and 1921–1923. As a composer, Beranová focused primarily on smaller-scale instrumental pieces and vocal works.
