Clementine Becker was born in France, but lived for some time in Russia, and Germany for the majority of her life. She is mentioned in the diaries of Ferdinand Schumann, "Fräulein Clementine Becker, the composer, our neighbour," and, according to these records, she was a frequent guest at social gatherings in the salon of the the composer Clara Schumann. Becker's compositions were Lieder, with late romantic themes such as nature and folklore for piano and voice.
