Ernestine de Bauduin was the most frequently performed song composer in Vienna's concert and semi-public salon scene during the second half of the 19th century. She was a church composer with a constant presence in Vienna's sacred spaces between 1876 and 1903. Furthermore, she was a well-known figure in Viennese salon and concert life, both in the media and in society at large. Over a thousand mentions of her name appear in Viennese periodicals, due to the numerous performances of her compositions, her artistic and charitable activities, and her social activism.
