Linda Bandara (artist name for Linda Leber-Hofland) was an outstanding composer who succeeded in building a bridge between European and Javanese music. Not only did she study gamelan extensively, she was also the first to write compositions for symphony orchestra in combination with gamelan instruments.She was a composer of Austrian parentage, who lived jointly in Vienna and Yogyakarta, Java. She studied with her mother, Antonia Leber (q.v.).
