BAENA, Maria Concepcion Lebrero

Concepción Lebrero ( Toro , July 24, 1937), stage name of María de la Concepción Lebrero Baena, is a Spanish pianist, organist, teacher, and composer. Concepción Lebrero began her musical studies at a young age and at 10 won first prize for piano at the Salamanca Conservatory. At 13, she completed her piano studies in Madrid and continued her training there, studying piano virtuosity with José Cubiles , harmony with Jesús Arámbarri , counterpoint and fugue with Francisco Calés, piano accompaniment and transposition with Gerardo Gombau , organ with Jesús Guridi , and composition with Cristóbal Halffter . [ 1 ] She was also a student of Miguel Berdión, and along with other students, performed in concerts organized in Zamora, Salamanca, and Valladolid.She has a large compositional catalog, which includes music for children, cycles for voice and piano, choral works with piano or orchestral accompaniment, piano and orchestral works, cantatas, and an oratorio. Her religious works are also noteworthy.
