BACH, Makenna Carrico

Makenna Bach writes music for films, games, podcasts, and more. Projects include the documentary Idle Warriors (dir. Molly Stark-Ragsdale), and the podcast The Unidentifieds by the Oregonian/oregonlive.

Bach received a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition in 2016 from the University of Oregon. In 2018, she graduated from the Seattle Film Institute and earned a Master of Music in Film Composition.

In 2016, Bach composed a choral piece using texts from journalist Jon Krakauer’s nonfiction book, “Missoula: Rape and the Justice System in a College Town.” Krakauer called the music “haunting and disturbing and beautiful.” In 2018, the Seattle Collaborative Orchestra premiered her uptempo orchestral piece, “Chocolate,” to finish out one of its concerts.

Now, Bach works as a freelance composer and cellist in the Portland area, as well as having a tenured position as a cellist with the Yakima Symphony Orchestra.
