Rosemary Austen was an Australian contemporary classical composer and classical guitarist. She worked as an optometrist for 15 years before studying classical guitar and composition at the Australian Institute of Music and the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music. Austen was commissioned to write a vocal work for Queensland based soprano Julee-anne van der Boor, and a bassoon concerto for Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra principal bassoonist Lisa Storchheim.
