Sofía Vela Querol was a Spanish singer, composer, and pianist well-known in Madrid's musical circles during the reign of Isabella II. Sofía Vela composed religious music, songs based on poems by Pedro Antonio de Alarcón, and piano pieces such as Pazzarella. Among her many other religious compositions are Memorare, Camino del cielo, Miserere al Santísimo Cristo de la Salud, and Flores a María. Almost all of her works were published by the Romero publishing house, and some are still preserved.
