She was born in 1978 in Tekirdağ, Turkey. In 2002, she graduated from İzmir Anatolian Fine Arts High School and, in the same year, received a scholarship to study composition at Bilkent University. There, she studied composition with Işın Metin and harmony with Zerife Bakihanova. After completing her master's degree in at the MÝAM's composition department, she is carrying on her composition studies with Pieter Snapper and Kamran İnce.
