AMPER, Emilia

Emilia Amper is a Swedish folk musician, singer, and nyckelharpa player. A World champion on the nyckelharpa, she has been awarded the title National fiddler of the realm. Her recognitions include winning a Norwegian Grammy and the Nordic Composer’s NPU Prize, being named Artist of the Year at the Swedish Folk & World Music Awards, and earning nominations for Swedish and American Grammy Awards.

Amper leads the Emilia Amper Band, which performs her compositions for nyckelharpa, vocals, percussion, and string ensembles. She is a member of the Swedish folk trio ODE with Olle Linder and Dan Knagg, and participates in Björn Meyer's project *Garden of Silence*. She plays in a trio with Frode Haltli and Vegar Vårdal, and performs in duos with Anna Petrini, Nadin Al Khalidi, Anders Löfberg, and Carlo Niederhauser.

As a soloist, Amper has performed with classical ensembles—including the Västerås Sinfonietta and Trondheim Symphony Orchestra—and dance companies such as Ballett am Rhein. She also collaborates with studio, pop, rock, and jazz musicians, including Jon Lord.
