Josephine Amann-Weinlich was a pianist, violinist, composer and conductor. She founded and conducted Europe's first women's orchestra. Amann-Weinlich was described in Musikalisches Wochenblatt [de] (1871, p. 718) as "a composer of pleasing, often quite piquant works of light genres, such as waltzes, polkas, etc." Some of her compositions were published in Vienna.
