ALOUR, Sophie

Sophie Alour (born 24 December 1974) is a French jazz musician who plays the saxophone, clarinet, and flute. She studied the clarinet at the music school in Quimper, taught herself the saxophone, and learned jazz through live performances.

In 2000, Alour joined the Vintage Orchestra big band, formed a sextet with Stéphane Belmondo, and joined Christophe Dal Sasso's big band. In 2004, she joined Rhoda Scott's quartet, performed in Wynton Marsalis's big band, and participated in an Aldo Romano project.

Alour released her debut album, *Insulaire*, in 2005. In 2007, she released *Uncaged* with Laurent Coq, Yoni Zelnik, Karl Jannuska, and Sébastien Martel, winning the 2007 Django d'or award for young talent. After touring in France, East Africa, and Central America, she released the trio album *Opus 3* in 2010. She has also performed on albums by Alexandre Saada and Rhoda Scott's Lady Quartet.
