BORDEN, Alexandra

Alexandra ("Alexa") Bordenis an L.A.-based composer from Philadelphia, PA. She attended both Berklee College of Music and Moravian University, where she studied music composition and music education. She was awarded the Graduate Merit Scholarship to attend Columbia College Chicago’s MFA program, where she earned her masters in Music Composition for the Screen. Alexa was the featured harpsichordist for Moravian’s Baroque Ensemble and has a long and pesky history of combining odd sounds like theremin and harpsichord, or ethereal vocals and synthesized insect noises. She has scored over 50 projects including feature films, shorts, documentaries, staged musicals, and video games, a number of which feature Alexa’s original songs and vocals. She is drawn toward independent film projects that focus on women-led teams and stories, and has a special love for sci-fi, psychological/folk horror, and dramatic historical films where she can utilize her love of analog synths, ethereal vocals, and flavors of traditional baroque/historical small ensemble instrumentation. Alexa currently serves as the Executive Director for the AWFC, served on the Board of Directors for FCSL (Female Composer Safety League), was a 2024 selectee of the VIFF AMP Program, and is a two-time composer mentor in the ScreenCraft Works cohort.
