Ilze Akerberga is a composer, conductor, and ethnomusicologist. Born in Brooklyn, NY, her atmospheric works are heavily influenced by her experiences in Latvia, Sweden, and the US.

She frequently incorporates children's voices, traditional instruments, interviews, and electronic sounds into her compositions.She holds an extensive educational background, including degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and Brooklyn College, as well as degrees in Baltic Languages and ethnology from the University of Stockholm. Beyond composing, she has specialized in Baroque organ playing and has performed as a church organist in Lapland.
