Born in Cartagena, Spain, Marisa Acuña is a composer and musicologist whose work bridges contemporary creation, interdisciplinary research, and musical performance. She began her musical education studying violin at the Conservatory of Music in Cartagena while simultaneously earning a Master’s degree in Economics and Business Management from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).
In 2005, she pursued advanced studies in composition at the Conservatorio Superior “Manuel Massotti Littel” in Spain under the guidance of composer Sixto Herrero, graduating with highest honors. Her commitment to artistic and academic development led her to further training in film music with Eduardo Armenteros, musical analysis with Ivan Nommick and Katalyn Szekely, and composition with José-María Sánchez Verdú.
