BANEGAS, Cristina García

  Multi-Award artist, organist, conductor, producer and composer. Cristina García Banegas holded the Chair of Organ Studies at the University School of Music in Uruguay until December 2019. She has produced and conducted several masterworks from the Baroque and Classical repertoire: J.S. Bach’s St Matthew's Passion, St John’s Passion, Mass in B minor, Magnificat and many of his Cantatas and Motets; Claudio Monteverdi’s Vesperae Della Beata Vergine; W.A. Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, Exultate Jubilate, Mass in C minor and Requiem; G.F. Haendel’s Messiah, Dixit Dominus; Zadock the Priest, My heart is inditing; H. Purcell’s Funeral Sentences and Come ye Sons of Art; K. Szymanowski’s Stabat Mater and Litanies to the Virgin Mary; Z. Kodály’s Budavary Te Deum; J. Brahms’ A German Requiem (London Version); M. Durufle’s Requiem, among others.
She is about to finish her life project: the recording of the Johann Sebastian Bach Complete Organ Works (25 recorded CD from a planned total of 26) on historical organs. She continuously performs in organ concerts through Europe, Latin America, United States of America, the Middle East and Japan.
As a composer, she writes for the organ.
